Standards Australia Announces Commencement Of Process To Adopt ISO 45001

Standards Australia has announced that it has commenced the process to adopt ISO 45001:2018 in Australia.

ISO (the International Organisation for Standardisation) released ISO 45001:2018 in March this year and it is now possible to get Certified to this ISO Standard in Australia.

Where ISO release a Standard largely the same as an Australian Standard (in this case AS/NZS 4801:2001: Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems), Australian Standards typically goes through the process of reviewing whether the ISO Standard is largely equivalent, and hence whether the Australian Standard can be withdrawn.

Note that the Standards Australia is yet to announce whether it will withdraw AS/NZS 4801. If this eventually occurs, there will be a migration period (generally 3 years), to allow organisation using (and/or Certified) to migrate to the new Standard (i.e. from AS/NZS 4801 to ISO 45001).

To help you on your journey we have mapped all the documented information you need to conform to ISO 45001. You can download this free on our Resources page (http://irmsystems.com.au/resources-new/).

Our team have expert understanding of the differences between AS/NZS 4801 and ISO 45001 (as well as OHSAS 18001 and ISO 45001).
