In this video we’re going to talk about the ISO certification process and what it is.
Towards the end of the video, I’ll give you my number one tip for any organisation that is looking at developing a management system and having it certified.
Once you've developed a management system, you will be ready to have it certified. That means that you've got to bring in an independent certification body, who are going to send out an auditor or a team of auditors, to audit your management system against each and every requirement in that particular standard that you are seeking certification to.
Once that has been conducted and you have been found to conform to every requirement in there, yes, that certification body will issue a certificate of certification and at that point you can actually communicate to the market place that you have achieved an ISO certification against the nominated standard.
Fundamentally it’s got to be an independent process, by which you demonstrate conformance through objective evidence to every requirement in the standard.
TOP TIP!
Developing a management system and having it certified is a lot of work and it involves quite a bit of cost. Because of this, we always recommend to our customers to not just aim for conformance and a certificate on the wall.
If that’s all your aiming for, that’s a pretty expensive process.
Instead, right from the start say, “think about how we can get improvement in the business and value out of this process”.
Think about that right from the start, from when your designing your system and every step of the way. You’ll get a lot more value out of the process.
